Comprehensive Brake Repair Services

We provide a full range of auto brake repair services to ensure your vehicle performs at its best. Our services include:

Anti-Lock Brake System
The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) ensures your wheels keep rotating during braking, preventing skidding and providing better control. If your ABS light illuminates, visit Highlands Auto Center for a diagnosis and professional brake repair.

Brake Fluid Flushes
Brake fluid can absorb moisture from the air over time, diminishing brake effectiveness and becoming corrosive, potentially harming the system. Regular brake fluid flushes are vital to ensure fresh fluid usage in your vehicle. Consult our technicians to determine the right time for a brake fluid flush.

Brake Hoses
A brake hose carries pressurized brake fluid from the master cylinder to the brakes. A damaged hose can lead to delayed or weak braking, and a leak may result in brake failure. While the need for a replacement brake hose isn't common, any signs of cracking or wear should prompt immediate replacement.

Brake Pad & Shoe Replacement
Squealing brakes often indicate brake pad issues. When brake pads deteriorate completely, a harsh metal-on-metal grinding noise occurs during braking, indicating potential rotor or drum damage. Although experienced individuals may attempt home repairs, if you have brake concerns, it's best to consult an auto repair professional promptly in order to receive the highest quality auto break repair.

Caliper Replacement
The brake caliper houses brake pads and clamps around the rotor to apply pressure during braking. Caliper problems can cause uneven braking, leading to skidding during braking and loss of control in adverse weather conditions. Contact Highlands Auto Center in Dallas at your earliest convenience for assistance.

Resurface Rotors
In a disc brake system, rotors attach to your vehicle's wheels. The friction with brake pads over time creates grooves and cracks. The process of resurfacing restores rotors to a "like-new" condition, reducing noise and wobbling.

Auto Brake Repair FAQs

Hopefully we can help answer some brake repair related questions you may have:

Why Are my Brakes Making a Grinding Noise?

A grinding sound from your brakes often signals that they're severely worn and require immediate attention. This noise typically means the brake pads have worn down to the rotors.

Why Are my Brakes Squeaking?

Squeaking brakes can result from small stones or debris caught in the pads, or it may indicate that the pads are wearing thin. It's a sign that your brakes might need inspection or replacement.

Why are my brakes making a burning smell?

A burning smell from your brakes can occur if they overheat from excessive use. If you notice a chemical odor or smoke, pull over safely and allow the brakes to cool to avoid further damage.

How Do You Repair a Sticking Brake Caliper?

A sticking brake caliper can cause uneven braking, poor fuel efficiency, or even serious damage if ignored. The repair typically involves inspecting the caliper slides and pins for corrosion, cleaning or replacing them as needed, and ensuring proper lubrication. In some cases, the entire caliper may need to be rebuilt or replaced-especially if the piston is seized or the rubber boot is torn.

While some experienced DIYers might attempt this at home, brake system repairs are best left to trained professionals to ensure your safety. If your brakes feel off or you suspect a caliper issue, stop by Highlands Auto Center so our technicians can take a look and get you safely back on the road.

Why Are My Brakes Vibrating?

Vibration when braking usually points to an issue with uneven rotor surfaces. Over time, rotors can wear unevenly, causing vibrations through the steering wheel when you apply the brakes.

I can't say enough about Chris and his entire team. Their honesty and integrity truly stood out during what could have been a very stressful situation. We brought our Land Rover in for a second opinion after my daughter had taken her vehicle to the Land Rover dealership in Dallas for a routine oil change. She was charged $450 for a high-grade oil change (which already felt excessive, as I typically pay around $250 in Connecticut), and then presented with a list of recommended repairs totaling over $5,000. What was most concerning is that there were no issues with the car prior to the visit. They claimed she needed a new battery, hoses, and several other items. It honestly felt like my daughter was being taken advantage of. I immediately researched reputable shops in the area and came across Chris. From the very first interaction, he was attentive, professional, and genuinely caring. He had my daughter bring the car in for a diagnostic and provided an honest, thorough quote. Come to find out, her car did not need any of the items the dealership had recommended. Thank you, Chris, and thank you to your entire team for your transparency, professionalism, and most importantly, your honesty. It's rare to find a business you can truly trust, and we are incredibly grateful to have found yours. Highly recommend.

We took our 2007 Jeep Liberty in due to some engine problems. Well, they looked in over and told what I had already suspected - the engine was in bad shape and loosing oil.The owner of the garage made some phone calls and presented us with a price much lower than we expected. We had them do the job (in one and a half weeks) and one their quoted price, we've driven the Jeep for a few days now without any problems. They did a great job and I would recommend them to everyone. Thanks guys for your detail to your work and low prices. I've ad them work on all 4 cars now, we are very satisfied with the out come of each car. I even bought a used car from them -works great. Thanks again Larry F
